Integrated Regional Oceanography using In-Situ and Remote
Observations and Models
The Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) is a major new thrust in oceanography. To date most of the focus on IOOS has been on developing the in situ observing system infrastructure. However, for coastal oceanography an integrated system will include in situ observing systems, remote sensing, including CODAR, aircraft and satellite remote sensing, and models that integrate these data streams into a coherent picture of the physical, chemical and biological dynamics of the coastal ocean. Papers are invited that focus on the remote sensing measurements and their use in an integrated approach to understanding coastal dynamics, on efforts to combine in situ and remote sensing measurements and on models that will integrate the in situ and remote sensing measurements to provide a comprehensive view of the coastal ocean. |
